Devic Realms
offers a comprehensive electric motor repair service, specialising in
all aspects of motor repair, including overhauls, bearing changes,
rewinds, pump repairs, spare parts, etc. Having completed a full
apprenticeship in this field, I am very qualified to help with any
electric motor problems you may have. We are set up to repair single
phase motors to approximately 3 HP, and three phase motors to
approximately 4 HP. Power tools are also accepted for repair.

Shown above
are typical parts of an electric motor. From left, we have a wound
stator, rotor, and bearings.

Here we have
the smaller components of an electric motor that basically make the unit
work together as a whole. From left we have a range of start and run
capacitors, then a close up of a run capacitor, and a centrifugal switch
assembly.

Pictured
above form left is a typical end shield and a small selection of
different types of cooling fans.
Basic
connection diagram for a single phase electric motor, showing schematic
connections for some of the components we have seen above. Often, the
motor will stop working because of one of these components
malfunctioning, not because it has burnt out, and repairs in these cases
are usually reasonably inexpensive. Unfortunately, most people simply
discard the whole motor when this occurs, thinking it will be cheaper to
buy a new one.
All motors
that we repair are fully tested and safety checked, and bearing
replacement is standard. All capacitors and switches are checked for
correct operation, and pump components are checked for any signs of
damage and replaced if necessary. Electrical testing for earth faults
and shorts are standard procedure, and visual inspections of insulation,
winding conditions, etc are thoroughly carried out. Your electric motor
could not be in better hands. Quote fees are applicable.
